Adventure through the labyrinth, and when you come out on the other side do not expect to be the same person you were at the beginning.

There is not a lot I can say about this book, other than that it changed my life. The reason I am at a loss for words is twofold. On one hand, Piranesi is like nothing I have ever read before, and more than likely, is like nothing I will ever read again. It is one of those rare books where I know I will reread it multiple times in my lifetime, but in doing so I will grieve my inability to read it again for the very first time. Because this story is so unique, it is hard to describe it without completely spoiling it. And you do not want this story spoiled. That is my second point: I am at a loss for words in reviewing this book because it is absolutely incredible.
There was not a single moment I was bored; not a single moment I found myself fully anticipating what was to come. Every twist and turn, every arc, every moment of dialogue was perfectly executed. Am I exaggerating? Perhaps. But I am being honest that there was not a moment I did not like within this story. And I cannot tell you about the story. It is too unique to describe (or maybe I am just a bad writer), and it is too wonderful to risk spoiling. You truly must read it for yourself.
What I can say is very practical: I would recommend this book for all, high school aged and up. While there are no gratuitous scenes, there are a few allusions to sexuality and violence. There is a decent amount of language, but nothing over the top. The story can in some ways be considered fantasy, and in other ways be considered mystery.
Structurally, the first few chapters of the book will keep you reading purely because Clarke makes it clear that there must be more going on than what is immediately apparent. This may not be as gripping for some, who prefer to dive head first into the action, but I would not characterize this start to the book as "slow."
And with that, go buy, borrow, or steal a copy of this book and read it immediately. I hope it changes your life. If it does, or does not, please send me a comment.

Yes ma'am! Just ordered it on thriftbooks, along with my copy of Persuasion ;)
