Join me and my husband, Davis, as we visit bookstores in Northwest Arkansas!

Stack of books from various local bookstores

First Stop: coffee and brunch at Little Bread Co. in Fayetteville

Little Bread Company in Fayetteville, AR

If you need a quirky, cozy stop for a good cup of coffee and a delicious pastry, look no further than Little Bread Co.!

This is one of our favorite date spots in Northwest Arkansas for sure, so it had to be on our list of stops. Besides, what is better than browsing a bookstore with a cup of coffee?

From there we walked down the street to our second stop.

Second Stop: Pearl's Books in Fayetteville

Pearl's Books in Fayetteville, AR

Pearl's is a cozy little bookstore with a lot of heart and charm. It had been open for no more than half an hour, so we had the place to ourselves, which was lovely. I picked up Shady Hollow by Juneau Black and Davis picked up The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones.

We originally were planning to hit Dickson Street Books in Fayetteville as well, but decided to skip it this time. We have spent a lot of time there in the past, and it is very labyrinthine. If you ever find yourself in Fayetteville, definitely visit!

Third Stop: Once Upon a Time Books in Springdale (where I sadly forgot to take a photo)

This is a used bookstore that also has another location in Bentonville. When I first moved back to Arkansas, this bookstore became a common haunt of mine. I picked up a beautiful copy of Daniel Deronda by George Eliot.

Fourth Stop: Underbrush Books in Rogers

Underbrush Books in Rogers, AR

This was, by far, our favorite stop. This bookstore had been recommended to me by my coworker and friend. In fact, she even left a surprise giftcard for us with the manager! (Thank you Kylee!) While we had, at one time or another, visited all the other bookstores on our list, this one was new to us. We also purchased two books apiece: I picked up The Kamogawa Food Detectives by Hisashi Kashiwai, and Playing with Fire, a collection of short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Davis picked up The Glutton by AK Blackmore, and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (which I will also read).

Fifth Stop: Barnes and Noble in Rogers (again, no photo...)

Ultimately, we didn't make it to the final bookstore we had originally discussed, which is Two Friends Books in Bentonville. But having been there before, I definitely highly recommend it! Barnes and Noble was on our list should we still be anxious to pick up a book or two we hadn't found yet, and for me that was Babel by RF Kuang.

While we definitely missed some bookstores, this won't be the last time we do something like this. We had so much fun and got so many books! It was also fun to see how very different my taste is from Davis' when it comes to books.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your partner, or your bestie, and explore your city's bookstores!

And be on the lookout for reviews of the books I purchased! Though I do have a long TBR stack to get through first...
